Next week, SaltAir Seafood Kitchen will officially say goodbye to River Oaks.
The restaurant, operated by Clark Cooper Concepts, announced its impending departure in a statement late Tuesday, but didn’t say why SaltAir was closing its doors. “We opened SaltAir with the goal of giving you all an experience that was different than any other seafood restaurant in Houston,” said the company in a statement. “Over the past years we feel we achieved that goal.”
After opening in 2015, SaltAir earned a great deal of critical praise, including two Eater Awards nominations and a nod from Chron critic Alison Cook in her year-end list of the city’s best new restaurants. Perhaps the crowds dwindled as River Oaks rapidly became home to a number of high-profile eateries like Le Colonial and Steak 48 in the months after its arrival.
SaltAir plans to keep the doors open for regular service through Friday, October 27, which means that fans of the seafood-obsessed eatery at least have a little time to say goodbye.
