Christian’s Tailgate Bar & Grill opened this week in the West University area, giving Houstonians another spot to catch all the Astros action. Houston Culturemap reports that newest location at 5114 Kirby Drive is open, making it the fifth outpost for the H-Town hotspot that started as a burger joint on Washington Avenue.
Co-owner Chris Alan describes Christian’s Tailgate to Houston Culturemap as a “family-friendly sports bar” and an alternative to the surrounding West U and Rice Village options. “Everything in the area is all breastaurants. We’re trying to appeal to people with (a combination of) game watching and good food,” he told the site.
Christian’s Tailgate intends to deliver on that family-friendly promise by installing a playground on the patio in the coming months.
The beer offerings redeem Christian’s sports-bar street cred with more than 30 brews on tap including new labels in the game: Eureka Heights, Brash, Great Heights, and Platypus. A diverse menu intends to appeal to everyone by offering a bit of everything including: hamburgers, tacos, chicken-fried steak, salads, and appetizers like potato skins and oysters on the half shell. TVs abound to catch all that World Series goodness.
