Early Morning Blaze Causes Minor Damage At Riel Restaurant

— Early this morning, a fire at Riel Restaurant in Montrose caused what appears to be minor damage. When Houston Press contributor Nicholas Hall drove by the restaurant, he saw that flames had reached “all the way up the side of the building.” Using a fire extinguisher from his car, Hall helped put out the fire alongside a neighbor. Hall also alleges that the circumstances surrounding the fire point to it being intentional. [Houston Press]

— After sustaining significant water damage, Fluff Bake Bar will continue its popular Saturday Morning Bake Sales at restaurants across the city. In addition to hosting forthcoming pop-ups at Riel and Southern Goods, Masson also has plans to make a few “small changes” to the bakery’s design. At present, Fluff Bake Bar is expected to be closed for at least a month. [CultureMap]

— Dish Society has opened its third location at 12525 Memorial. The restaurant occupies a 4,000 square foot space that offers up plenty of room for diners to enjoy its menu of “approachable” fare and Texas craft brews. The restaurant is also planning an expansion into Dallas and Fort Worth in the future, along with an outpost in the Heights set to open next year. [Houston Chronicle]
