Chef Chris Shepherd has debuted UB Sandwich, his brand new option for chef-created sandwiches that can be delivered right to the door.
The new concept will offer a variety of casual dishes, all prepared in the Underbelly kitchen. Instead of opening up the restaurant for dine-in service, customers will place their orders in advance on the Underbelly website for delivery each day. "I've wanted to do something simple with sandwiches for years and recently I realized I already have a great team at Underbelly that can execute this,” Shepherd said in a statement. “I believe we can add something fresh and different to the lunch delivery market in Houston."
As far as the food is concerned, UB Sandwich will serve up a variety of sub-style sandwiches, including cold Korean fried chicken on a hoagie roll topped with cucumber, cabbage, and gochujang-spiked mayo. Also on offer is the Caprese, a vegetarian option made with Underbelly’s freshly-made mozzarella, arugula, and of course, tomato. Salads, charcuterie and crudite, and cookies from pastry chef Victoria Dearmond round out the offerings.
UB Sandwich is now accepting online orders for sandwich delivery, but you’ll have to wait until tomorrow — all orders must be input by 9:30 a.m. for same-day delivery. For folks inside the Loop, delivery is free.
