Canadian export Moxie’s Grill & Bar has officially debuted its first Houston location near the Galleria.

The new-to-Houston eatery opened at 5000 Westheimer Road last week, becoming Moxie’s second outpost in Texas. The restaurant set its sights on Houston after first breaking U.S. soil in Dallas’ bustling Uptown district last year. The expansion was powered by Dallas Stars owner Tom Gaglardi.

In Houston, the two-story eatery features a modern interior, open kitchen, and two bar areas including a wraparound bar on the second level. The space also boasts an outdoor patio and bar, outdoor fireplace, and a second story wraparound patio from which diners can enjoy those temperate Houston nights.

As far as food is concerned, diners can look forward to a menu of varied dishes from executive chef Brandon Thordarson. Highlights include sushi cones with tempura shrimp, avocado, pea shoots, nori crisps and sesame chili ponzu; prime steaks; blackened mahi mahi; and chipotle-mango chicken. For brunch, Moxie’s serves up standard options like white cheddar eggs Benedict with pancetta, hollandaise, and hashbrowns. Moxie’s slings some inventive cocktails too, like an avocado gimlet with rosemary-and-olive-infused gin, avocado, and apfelkorn.

Moxie’s is located at 5000 Westheimer Road, Suite 250 and is open Sunday through Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., and Thursday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Brunch service is Saturdays and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
