Houston Is Getting a Board Game Cafe Stocked with 500 Games

Tea + Victory is opening in early 2018

Construction is underway at Tea + Victory, which bills itself as “Houston’s first board game cafe.” They’re not kidding around about board games: there will be a library of 500 games to choose from when Tea + Victory opens in early 2018. In case that’s overwhelming, experts known as “game guides” will be on hand to help diners navigate it all with recommendations and tips.

Tea + Victory will be located inside the Loop at 20th and TC Jester, near the Heights. The team behind the cafe has bona fide board game credentials too. It's led by husband and wife team Jason Bush and Vanessa Briceño (Vanessa went to NYU for an MFA in Game Design) and their friend/business partner Meghan Rega.

As for food and drink, diners can settle in with a game and coffee or a beer, along with what’s described as “American classic meets English picnic style menu.” That translates to comfort food like grilled cheese and English-style high tea.
