In the works for almost two years, Downtown late-night destination Frank’s Pizza is finally getting ready to open its adjacent beer garden.
A representative for the restaurant tells Eater that Frank’s Backyard will likely open its doors in early 2018, more than a year and a half after it was officially announced. The forthcoming beer garden is “trying to get through the last few permit inspections,” according to the rep, who notes that the process has not been an “easy task.”
As Eater reported in 2016, the restaurant had to obtain permission from the Houston Archaeological & Historical Commission in order to build a door that could join Frank’s Pizza and Frank’s Backyard while “retaining and preserving the historical character of the property.” In addition to that door, a silver trailer has been added to the outdoor space, along with some seating noticed by a hawk-eyed Twitter user.
Frank’s Backyard is, at present, planning on a January 2018 opening. Stay tuned for more details on its official debut.
