When Shake Shack opened its doors in Houston last year, locals were stoked enough to wait in line for their first ShackBurger. The hype has died down, but that may soon change as the NYC-based burger chain begins work on its second Houston outpost.
Swamplot reports that the La Madeleine at Kirby & Amherst will close its doors on March 26 to make way for construction on the Rice Village Shake Shack location. The space is set to undergo a major revamp, including “a gutting of the existing canopy level” which will make way for Shake Shack’s modern glass facade.
When Shake Shack arrives, the burger competition be stiff in Rice Village. Hopdoddy Burger Bar just opened the doors to its second Houston location in the district, which maybe means that employees will engage in ‘50s style burger rumbles in the parking lot after hours.
Shake Shack is expected to arrive at Rice Village in November 2017.
