As of yesterday, Washington Avenue is home to the city’s newest taco haven, Austin-based eatery Tacodeli. The outpost is the first in Houston, but co-founder Roberto Espinosa tells Eater that more are on the way.
The window-walled restaurant boasts a bevy of colorful, hand-painted tables, a custom photography collage, and plenty of seating via booths, a quick-seat bar. Just in time for spring, the restaurant also boasts a spacious dog-friendly patio, which means that your four-legged friends can also enjoy Tacodeli’s tortilla-wrapped delights.
The menu at the Washington Ave location reflects the same selections available at other Tacodeli outposts. More than 40 kinds of breakfast and lunch tacos are on offer, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The tacos (available with corn, whole wheat, or flour tortillas) are stuffed with locally sourced and organic meats, veggies, and eggs.
Tacodeli is now open at 1902 Washington Ave from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., seven days a week. Step inside the Austin export courtesy of Eater photographer Ellie Sharp.
