Head to El Bolillo Bakery for the absurdly colorful treats

Pan dulce is already a pretty perfect snack or dessert, but the master bakers at Houston’s El Bolillo Bakery have somehow found an Instagram-friendly way to improve on the sweet and doughy formula.

In the aftermath of Starbucks’ viral success with the Unicorn Frappuccino, El Bollilo has introduced a variety of unicorn-hued pan dulce offerings, including stunning “uniconchas” and “unicuernos.” The shop also offers intricately-decorated cakes (like classic tres leches) that follow the same unicorn color scheme.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the bakery has gone through more than 500 pounds of flour just this week in making its unicorn-inspired treats. Bakery manager Brian Alvarado also told the Chron that these pastries take a little more work than the shop’s typical sweets. “We have to be more careful and make sure the colors don't mix too much or else it turns into a dark brown or a black,” says Alvarado. “We don't wanna do that.”

No word yet on how long these brightly-colored sweets will be available at El Bolillo, but don’t be surprised if a line has formed around the building as Houstonians search for their very own (edible) unicorn.
