A brand new spot that focuses on modernizing traditional Thai street fare has officially made its debut in Upper Kirby.

Rim Tanon, a brand new Thai eatery with a name that means “roadside,” has officially kicked open the doors at 2241 Richmond Ave. The new street food focused restaurant is a project from the minds behind Thai Cottage, Blue Fish House, and Time For Thai, all of which are known for serving up consistently solid Thai cuisine.

The kitchen at Rim Tanon is helmed by Chef Nunnapat Triwakthunakon, and will feature a unique menu of riffs on Thai classics. Diners can look forward to dishes like creamy tom yum soup, som tum (green papaya salad with fresh chiles and roasted dried shrimp), and khai luk koei (deep fried eggs sauced in tamarind and topped with fried onions).

Rim Tanon is now open for lunch and dinner, available Monday through Saturday. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and dinner service is held from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Sundays.
