After a lengthy wait, Chef Ryan Hildebrand’s FM Kitchen + Bar is just about ready to make its official debut.

Announced via release, the restaurant will officially kick open the doors at 1112 Shepherd in the next few weeks. According to Hildebrand, FM Kitchen aims to be a neighborhood spot for folks living in the Washington-Shepherd corridor. “We brought the casual, comfortable nature of a road trip to the heart of one of the best cities in the world,” Hildebrand said in a statement. “Think of it as a park in the city where you have a drink, a bite, play some games on the patio and relax.”

Hildebrand also plans to “celebrate all that Houston is,” ranging from the local ingredients that will dominate FM Kitchen’s menu to the H-Town graffiti from street artist Daniel Anguilu that decorates the restaurant’s walls. The space will also host local bands in the evenings.

This debut is a long time coming for Hildebrand. Since at least 2014, he’s been working on some version of this new concept. Originally, it was FM 903, then it morphed into a burger-focused restaurant called FM Burger. The final concept debuted shortly after Hildebrand’s first restaurant, Triniti, closed its doors after five years.

FM Kitchen + Bar is set to open its doors on May 19. Stay tuned for more details on the restaurant’s menu.
