Houston’s craft beer boom shows no signs of slowing down, and 4J Brewing will continue the trend when the brand new suds purveyor makes its debut in Spring Branch.

Jennifer Edwards, co-owner of 4J Brewing, tells Eater that the new brewery at 1348 Cedar Post Lane plans to open in the coming weeks. According to Edwards, the female-owned brewery is a family project. Edwards’ mother Marilyn is 4J’s co-owner, and her father Larry Edwards is a seasoned home-brewer who will oversee the development of the new brewery’s beer.

As far as those brews are concerned, 4J is currently working on four different beers — a blonde, a pale ale, an amber, and a stout. Those beers will be available year-round, and will boast family-inspired names. “Our beers aren’t overly hoppy and have a nice balance between the malt bill and hops,” says Edwards. “We plan to add more beers in the future, including an IPA.”

At present, 4J Brewing is still waiting on a few more pieces of equipment before the doors can officially open. No timeline for an opening date has been set just yet, but the brewery is expected to arrive sometime this summer.
