Next week, Houstonians will be able to experience Houston restaurateur Mike Tran’s take on Korean cuisine when Ohn Korean Eatery makes its debut in Chinatown.
The restaurant is set to open its doors at 9630 Clarewood Drive early next week, according to a post to its Instagram account. Tran has been previewing dishes from the new spot, like crispy chicken tonkatsu, pork belly with charred kimchi, and gungjung tteokbokki, or rice cakes stir-fried with scallions and chiles.
Perhaps most excitingly, Tran has created a Korean-inspired brisket, which is sure to appeal to the city’s barbecue enthusiasts. As far as booze is concerned, the restaurant will offer up a selection of soju, plus a menu of craft cocktails.
Take a peek at the drool-worthy brisket below, complete with sauce and a side of kimchi:
The spot is just the latest in Tran’s growing restaurant empire. In addition to popular ramen spot Tiger Den and beloved Chinese eatery Mein, Tran opened a curry house called Night Market in October of last year. Ohn was announced shortly thereafter, and has been in the works ever since.
The restaurant is currently planning to kick open the doors on May 31 at 5 p.m. The spot will stay open until 2 a.m.
