Nearly two months after the closure of its predecessor, Island Grill is just about ready to start serving its hummus and tabbouleh in Rice Village.

Announced via release, the restaurant is expected to open its doors in the coming weeks at 2365A Rice Boulevard, taking over the former home of Little Liberty. The restaurant is an expansion of the burgeoning chain that opened its first location on Woodway Drive back in 2000, and has six expanded to two additional restaurants along with the forthcoming Rice Village spot.

The restaurant will serve the same menu of Mediterranean-American cuisine, inspired by owner Faisal Haddad’s childhood in Damascus, Syria, that has earned the restaurant a loyal following of fans. The freshly pressed juices and smoothies available at Island Grill’s other Houston outposts will also be on offer.

No opening date has yet been set, but look for the Rice Village location of Island Grill to arrive later this month.
