Houston has no shortage of fried chicken options, but Arkansas-based chain Slim Chickens will soon bring its version of yardbird to Houston proper.

A representative for the chain tells Eater that ground has been broken on Slim Chickens’ first location in Houston proper, set to open on Louetta Road in Vintage Lakes later this year. It’s the first of five Slim Chickens locations in Houston proper, but the chain currently operates restaurants in the suburbs, including outposts in Katy and Humble, and is set to bring a new location to Kingwood later this summer.

The chain was originally founded in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2003, and has since expanded to dozens of locations across Texas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Kansas. It’s known for its chicken tenders and wings, all of which are intended to be dunked into one of Slim Chickens’ sauces. Sides like mac & cheese and fried okra are on offer, along with fried pies, layered desserts in jars, and fare for kids.

Slim Chickens hasn’t announced an opening date for the Louetta location, but stay tuned for this fried chicken chain’s arrival.
