It’s long been known that In-N-Out Burger has been plotting a Houston location, and now it appears as if the California-based chain has officially found a location for Houston’s first spot to score a Double Double.
Rumormongers on the Houston Architecture Information Forum originally sleuthed out that In-N-Out had purchased land in Briarmeadow at Westheimer and Dunvale, and now Eater has obtained a property deed that confirms the buy. Houston commercial real estate broker Baker Katz was involved in the transaction.
The saga of In-N-Out’s arrival in Houston has been a lengthy one. In 2015, the chain made it clear that it had no immediate plans to expand into the city, but news came earlier this year that the chain was scoping out locations for Houston’s first In-N-Out. Considering the rapid expansion of burger chains into Houston — think Hopdoddy Burger Bar and Shake Shack — it does seem a little counter-intuitive that In-N-Out stayed away for so long.
Currently available details indicate that In-N-Out doesn’t have a timeline for opening just yet, but stay tuned — those Animal-style fries aren’t too far away.
