After scoring a James Beard Award nomination earlier this year, Mala Sichuan Bistro’s Jianyun Ye is planning to bring an outpost of his beloved restaurant to Katy.
The restaurant will set up shop in the new Asian Town shopping development in Katy, on the northeast side of the Grand Parkway and I-10 intersection, reports Community Impact. It’s the third location for Mala Sichuan, which expanded to Montrose in 2015 after opening the original on Bellaire in Asiatown.
In Katy’s Asian Town, Mala Sichuan will join an impressive line-up of eateries from Houston and beyond, including Taiwanese boba tea chain Sharetea, and yet another outpost of 85C Bakery Cafe. Gong Cha will bring even more boba tea to the development, which is currently under construction.
No official opening timeline has been announced for Mala Sichuan’s arrival in Katy, but it likely won’t be until late this year or early next, depending on how construction progresses.
