After losing the lease for her building, Tila’s Restaurante owner Tila Hidalgo has announced that the restaurant will close before moving to a new location.
For rent signs are up in the windows of the space at 1111 Shepherd Drive, reports Swamplot. Hidalgo confirmed the closure in a Facebook post on the restaurant’s page earlier this week, announcing that Tila’s would need to find a new home. “Now, while some may see these as a “door closing,” we see it as a “door opening,” reads the post. “A chance for a new beginning, a fresh start and a wonderful opportunity!”
While looking for a new location, Hidalgo will continue to operate the Tila’s Tacos truck. The post also hints at what could be a revamp of the original Tila’s — Hidalgo and her team are in the process of “creating and building our newest Tila’s concept — but no details on what that will look like have been made available as of yet.
For now, Tila’s is closed as it packs and plans to vacate the space by the end of the month. Stay tuned for more details on what comes next for this beloved Tex-Mex institution.
