When Chef Chris Shepherd debuts his new steakhouse Georgia James at 1100 Westheimer, Underbelly will be no more. As such, some of the restaurant’s staff are getting tattoos of the restaurant’s logo to remember their time in the kitchen.
A post to the restaurant’s Instagram account announces that diners, too, can get in on the action. “Members of our staff will be getting the Underbelly logo tattooed on January 28,” the post reads. “We have five slots open for guests, friends, or anyone who just thinks our logo is badass. Plus, it’s on us!”
The logo, which features knives, a carving fork, and cleaver fashioned into a star, will be tattooed at Flying Squid Tattoo. “This symbol means a lot to us. It represents a way of life—inclusivity, understanding your neighbor, breaking bread and learning from people with different backgrounds and cultures,” reads the post. “And it represents our love for Houston, the most diverse city in the country.”
A representative for Underbelly tells Eater that general manager Katy Brittain, who’s handling the tattoo reservation process, has already received more than five calls for the slots open to the public.
