It’s been a tragic start to the new year for B-52 Brewing Company of Conroe, which lost its cofounder, Chad Daniel, to a motorcycle accident over the holidays.

A post to B-52’s Facebook page on Monday announced the terrible news. “The craft beer industry has lost one amazing person. We hope you had the opportunity to meet Chad and understand his immense passion for craft beer,” the post reads. “He always believed in pushing outside the envelope. He is sorely missed and will be remembered forever at the brewery.”

B52 Brewing Company made its debut in Houston in the summer of 2014, setting up shop on six densely-wooded acres just off 105. Named one of Eater Houston’s essential 11 breweries, B-52 brews up pilsner, stout, lager, wheat IPA, ryes, and ales. Brewmasters Chad and Brent Daniel are attributed with infusing casks with roasted coconut to create a mosaic-hopped Wheat IPA for the summer.

B52 Brewing Company plans to “keep pushing forward” in Daniel’s memory.
