Churned Creamery, Sugar Land’s newest destination for over-the-top desserts, arrives this weekend.
The new ice cream shop at 2587 Town Center Boulevard will open its doors on Saturday, October 13, according to a Facebook post. Originally expected to open earlier in the summer, unnamed delays pushed the scoop shop’s debut back several weeks, and the shop’s final health department inspection didn’t take place until last week.
The Sugar Land location is Churned Creamery’s first to open outside of California, where it was founded and currently operates five ice cream shops. More than a dozen ice cream flavors will be available daily, including Italian espresso, honeydew, green tea, and Irish mint, plus dairy-free sorbets in flavors like mango and blood orange.
As interesting as the scoops are, Churned Creamery is equally obsessed with inventive ice cream delivery devices. The shop’s signature offering is the “CroCream,” a flaky croissant stuffed with ice cream and toppings. Its ice cream can also be served in a Instagram-friendly black waffle cone, scooped on top of a churro doughnut, or served in a brownie bowl. Also prominent on Churned Creamery’s menu are tea drinks, to which boba, lychee bits, strawberry-coconut jelly, and aloe vera can be added. Uber-trendy color-changing butterfly tea is an option, as are typical bubble tea flavors like mango and strawberry. Shakes, affogato, and soda ice cream floats are on offer, along with acai bowls.
The doors open at Churned Creamery at 3 p.m. on Saturday, and the shop is giving away free scoops and toppings to the first arrivals.
