Hank’s Cajun Crawfish, an Asiatown original for seafood platters and po’ boys, will soon have a new spinoff eatery in Katy.
Hank’s Crabshack is set to debut after the first of the year near Fry Road and Katy-Gaston Road, according to a representative from the restaurant. The family-owned business has operated its namesake eatery since 2006, followed by three more Hank’s outposts, with the forthcoming Katy location being the fifth.
The GM of Hank’s Bear Creek location said it was the right time to expand the eatery. “We do good business here, so it seems like Katy would be a good fit,” general manager Supreme Butler tells Eater. He says all the construction is done and the forthcoming eatery is working on nailing down a constant supply of fresh seafood in preparation for its opening. It’ll be a counter-service eatery with a drive-thru and a full-service bar, as opposed to a full-service restaurant at the other locations. It won’t have the exact same menu as found at Hank’s two other locations, but there will be some crossover and the recipes will be the same. Here’s hoping that the boiled seafood bags, wings, gumbo, shrimp & grits, and po’ boys make the trek to Katy. What is certain is that the new location will serve up a full bar of alcohol including sangria, creole bloody marys, hurricanes, mules, along with booze-spiked slushes.
Eater has reached out to Hank’s owners to pin down its opening date and hours of operation. Stay tuned for that info.
