Eater reported back in August that a matcha-obsessed shop would debut in Asiatown’s Dun Huang Plaza, and now it appears that Meccha Matcha is finally here.

The shop, located at 9889 Bellaire Blvd Ste D-220, is in the midst of its soft-opening phase, according to its Facebook page. It’s a DFW export known for supplying matcha-lovers with a variety of treats infused with the brightly hued powdered green tea including lattes, affogato, ice cream, soft serve, shaved ice, and more that can be topped with granola, red beans, strawberry sauce, whipped cream, matcha jelly, mochi balls, and matcha chocolate made in-house.

“Meccha,” which means “very” in Japanese, sounds like a direct translation for something that is “extra” in America. The shop is the project of 27-year-old Joseph Be who comes from a family of restaurateurs. He wanted to bring an “authentic” Japanese experience to Houston with Japanese-influenced interiors and a mural featuring super kawaii dogs and cats. “People who have gone to Japan, will come back and see that in our shop,” Be told Eater in August. This is just the first Meccha Matcha shop for Houston, be on the lookout for more as Be has plans for a rapid Texas expansion.

Meccha Matcha operates Sunday through Thursday 12 to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 12 p.m. to 12 a.m.
