The owners of the Turkey Leg Hut, a soul food spot beloved by visiting celebrities and locals alike, have plans to open a brand new daiquiri destination.
A post to Turkey Leg Hut’s Instagram account announces the forthcoming Daiquiri Hut, which will open in a space on Almeda Road near its predecessor. Unlike most Houston daiquiri shops, Daiquiri Hut will make its frozen drinks with actual spirits instead of wine or malt liquor. 20 different flavors will be on offer, though those haven’t been disclosed yet. A peek at a blurry shot of the menu indicates that they’ll be sold by the cup and by the gallon, along with po’ boys, fried seafood baskets, salads, and sides to help soak up the booze.
For folks unfamiliar with Turkey Leg Hut, it’s become a Houston sensation over the past several months thanks to endorsements from major celebrities like Snoop Dogg and Kevin Hart, along with visits from professional athletes, rappers, and musicians. The restaurant is so popular, in fact, that it’s not uncommon to see lines wrapped around the door with diners waiting eagerly for a taste of those stuffed turkey legs.
Daiquiri Hut is set to arrive in April 2019. Eater has reached out for more details on its debut — stay tuned for an update.
