Save the eulogies for The Harp on Richmond Avenue. The popular watering hole in Montrose closed yesterday with a big blowout after serving Harp lager for 19 years. But now owner Declan Plunkett just told the Houston Chronicle that the Irish bar will live on under new management after his retirement.
Ted Baker, the owner of Revelry on Richmond and new bar Bobcat Teddy’s Ice House, purchased The Harp and plans to get it back open in time for what else, St. Patrick’s Day. It sounds like The Harp regulars will still recognize the place when it opens back up, but there will be improvements like new bathrooms, a new outdoor deck, an Irish whisky program, and a new cocktail menu too.
