Seems like axe throwing bars are to 2018 what cat cafes were to 2014. The ax hurling trend is making its way to Houston and national chain Urban Axes wants in. The company is on the hunt for 10,000-square-feet in the Loop, according to the Houston Business Journal. There’s some competition for the chain, since the bring-your-own-beer-and-wine Houston Axe is already open.
The hope is to open an Urban Axes Houston location by the latter half of this year. Urban Axes locations across the country either serve beer and wine (not hard liquor), or are BYOB. A few Urban Axe locations even have leagues for those who want to take competitive hatchet throwing to the very next level.
For a primer on the ax-hurling-while-embibing sport, definitely check out this Eater explainer, that breaks down why this is a soup-ed up version of darts.
