Aqua S, the Australian export for soft-serve cones wrapped in clouds of cotton candy, has finally debuted in Houston.
A representative from the company confirmed that the shop at 9889 Bellaire Blvd in Dun Huang Plaza threw open its doors late last week for its initial soft opening phase.
The shop brought its namesake sea-salt-flavored, aqua-colored soft serve to Space City along with matcha and lychee flavors either with sea salt or without. Diners have the option of topping ice cream with cotton candy aka “fairy floss,” toasted marshmallows, pop rocks, or popcorn. There are ice cream tubs flavored with jackfruit and durian to take away as well.
No word yet on whether an expanded menu from its overseas outposts will roll out after the soft opening. In Australia, diners can get additional toppings like mochi and lychee, and flavors that are foreign to typical U.S. palates: Earl Grey tea, egg pudding, and rose watermelon.
Hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday until midnight.
