Houstonians still have to wait for Brenham smoked meats icon Truth Barbeque to make its Space City debut, but pitmaster Leonard Botello IV will preview his brisket at a forthcoming pop-up.
Botello is keeping mum (for now) on when Truth will make its debut, but diners can get a first taste of Truth’s famous brisket atop a bowl of noodles at Ramen Tatsu-Ya. The restaurant announced the pop-up in a post to Instagram, noting that this one-time-only bowl will be made with a “deep, warm, and woodsy” smoked shoyu broth. Tatsu-Ya describes the duo thusly: it’s a “dope match for the simply-prepared 44 Farms Truth Barbecue brisket, known for its silky, rich fat.”
According to the Facebook event page, plenty of free beer will be on offer to pair with the bowls of broth. If brisket isn’t appealing, Ramen Tatsu-Ya also recently debuted a crawfish ramen dish that has Houston noodle enthusiasts buzzing.
Considering the anticipation surrounding Truth Barbeque’s arrival, plan to get there early — the goods will be served April 9, starting at 5 p.m. until the brisket is gone.
