Slowpokes, the beloved beverage concept that’s part coffee house, part wine bar, will open a location in the Upper Kirby District.

The second outpost of Slowpokes will open in the Kirby Grove building at 2925 Richmond Avenue, and a press release notes that it will be bigger than the first, occupying more than 1,800 square feet. A larger kitchen will allow for a broader menu, including offerings like paninis on bread sourced from Houston’s own Kraftsmen Baking, box lunches, and an all-day menu of breakfast dishes. The shop will also team up with local purveyors like Fluff Bake Bar and Oh My Pocket Pies to add sweet treats and empanadas (respectively) to the menu.

When it comes to drinks, no beverage is off limits at Slowpokes. During the day, customers can sip on loose leaf teas or tap cold brew coffees while grinding away at their laptops. At night, they can trade in their caffeine for a local craft brew or a glass of red from Slowpoke’s constantly rotating wine selection.

Slowpokes is expected to make its Upper Kirby debut sometime this fall. Stay tuned for an official opening date.
