Restaurateur Benjamin Berg Has Plans for a New Cafe Facing B&B Butchers

Lemon Cafe is going into the former Caddy Shack spot

Lemon Cafe, a new project from Benjamin Berg, is coming to Washington Avenue directly across the street from his existing eatery B&B Butchers & Restaurant.

The new cafe will debut in the space formerly occupied by Caddy Shack at 1809 Washington Avenue, Swamplot reports. At this point, details on the upcoming concept are scarce, but an entity connected to Berg reportedly filed a permitting request to revamp the space on Friday. Caddy Shack was housed there for 6 years (and briefly rebranded as the Turkey Leg Hut) before shuttering for good at the end of last year.

It’s been a busy year for Berg, who opened a second location of his butchery/steakhouse in Fort Worth’s new The Shops at Clearfork development early this year. Before that, he swooped in to save Carmelo’s restaurant at the end of last year after learning that the 37-year-old eatery would shutter when its former owner retired. And as Eater previously reported, Berg also has plans in the works to open Benjamin inside The Star luxury apartment building in Downtown this fall.

A spokesperson for Berg says that he is not yet ready to share more details on Cafe Lemon, but that the project has been in the works for more than a year. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
