Next month, massive Japanese cream puff chain Beard Papa’s will open its first Texas location in Katy.

A representative for Beard Papa’s tells Eater that the cream puff destination will officially kick open the doors in mid-August at 23119 Colonial Parkway, inside the Katy Asian Town development. The Houston location will be Beard Papa’s biggest restaurant in the United States, occupying 1,600 square feet. As Eater reported back in May, the Japanese-born Beard Papa’s currently operates more than 300 locations across the globe, including outposts in California, New York, and Massachusetts.

In addition to the cream puffs that made it famous, topped with flavorful glazes and filled with cream in flavors like green tea and honey butter, Beard Papa’s also has a bounty of sweet options on offer, including cream-stuffed eclairs, mini-puffs, and their riff on a Paris-Brest, a round, filled pastry that’s sprinkled with powdered sugar. With the opening of Beard Papa’s, the dining line-up at Katy Asian Town is officially getting awesome — in the coming months, look for an outpost of popular Sichuan restaurant Mala Sichuan Bistro, a Korean barbecue joint, and Taiwanese boba tea chain Sharetea to join Beard Papa’s.

Beard Papa’s will serve its first cream puffs to the public on August 18. The doors open at 10:30 a.m.
