Two years after bringing their splashy River Oaks restaurant Steak 48 to Houston, the Mastro brothers are planning a seafood-focused restaurant.
The duo will open an outpost of Ocean 44 in Scottsdale, Arizona first, then they’re setting their sights on Space City, according to Restaurant Hospitality. The Houston restaurant will be called Ocean 48, and like its steak-obsessed predecessor, it’s going to be over-the-top. The restaurant will occupy upwards of 10,000 square feet, and focus on equally luxurious preparations and presentation. An 18-foot display of shellfish on ice will be an element of the restaurant’s glassed-in kitchen, which will offer diners a peek inside the action.
The Ocean restaurants will also have their own wood-fired ovens, making way for “lobster bakes” and grilled seafood. Expect a sprawling menu, too — the duo reportedly visited more than 30 legendary seafood restaurants in Hawaii and on the mainland to research the restaurant’s menu.
No location for the restaurant has been chosen just yet, but the Mastros are currently scoping out addresses. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
