Continuing its series of beers inspired by icons of the Houston hip-hop scene, 8th Wonder Brewery is set to release a brand new brew inspired by Space City’s own people’s champ, Paul Wall.
8th Wonder Brewery announced that the People’s Champ Kristalweizen will hit shelves in September, and it’s decidedly appropriate for the Slab God. “Paul Wall likes his beer like the diamonds in his grillz: clean and clear like a disco ball chandelier,” the brewery announced in a tweet. “People’s Champ Kristalweizen is a crystal-clear, filtered wheat beer that is tasty and refreshing.”
The brew has recently been on offer at 8th Wonder’s EaDo taproom, where it’s earned solid reviews from beer nerds on Untappd. Wall reportedly collaborated on the beer with 8th Wonder, helping choose the flavor profile for People’s Champ, which has notes of banana and clove and an alcohol content of 4.9%, making it an easy drinker.
The second in the hip-hop beer series, People’s Champ Kristalweizen follows the pineapple wheat “Bo$$ Beer” that 8th Wonder developed in collaboration with Slim Thug. According to 8th Wonder’s website, a “candy apple kolsch” inspired by legendary Houston rap duo UGK is set to follow the People’s Champ’s debut later this year.
People’s Champ Kristalweizen is set to debut in September. In the meantime, scope out a sneak peek of Paul Wall on the can below:
