Houston has no shortage of local breweries, but another craft beer maker, Fortress BeerWorks, will enter the fray this fall.
The forthcoming brewpub at 2606 Spring Cypress Road in Spring will be the 49th for the Houston area, according to a press release announcing its arrival. It will occupy a 6,600-square-foot industrial space that’s part taproom and part brewery. Because it has the “brewpub” designation, patrons will also be able to take beer away from the venue in crowlers.
Fortress will have a double IPA, blonde ale, witbier, and its signature Smash IPA on deck for the opening, with more rollouts planned throughout the year including seasonal brews and special releases. While there won’t be a kitchen on-site, the brewpub plans to partner with local food trucks so drinkers have some snacks on hand for long days in the taproom.
“As huge craft beer fans ourselves, we’re beyond excited to become a part of Houston’s quickly expanding craft beer scene, and eager to help slake the thirsts of the beer drinkers of our great city,” said head brewer and co-owner Dion Billard in a statement.
Fortress BeerWorks plans to operate Thursday through Sunday. Stay tuned for hours of operation and its official opening date.
