Smoosh, the popular Houston food truck known for its cookie ice cream sandwiches, will debut its permanent location at Lowell Street Market this week.

A post to the shop’s Instagram account announces that it will open the doors at 718 West 18th Street in the Heights this week for limited hours. It’s a practice run of sorts before the official grand opening this weekend. As Eater reported back in March, the shop will sit directly next to brunch destination Snooze in the development, and will join Teaspresso Bar, a Hawaiian chain known for its customizable milk teas.

For cookie junkies unfamiliar with Smoosh, the shop describes itself as Houston’s first destination for “customizable” ice cream sandwiches. That means that diners can choose from a variety of cookies, think classic chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin, to stuff with a scoop of vanilla, chocolate, or butter pecan ice cream. Then, toppings like candy, crumbled bacon, and crushed Oreo cookies garnish the super-sweet dessert. Shakes, sundaes, soda floats, and cookie ice cream splits are also on offer.

This week, Smoosh will be open from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., then officially kick open the doors on Saturday, September 15 with a grand opening party that involves free ice cream sandwiches between noon and 4 p.m.
