After conquering barbecue, burgers, and steaks, chef Ronnie Killen is now working on bringing a brand new Tex-Mex restaurant called Killen’s TMX to Pearland.
A permit application filed with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission indicates that Killen will open the restaurant at 9330 Broadway Street in Pearland. A representative for the restaurant told Houstonia on Sunday that a lease has not yet been signed for the space, but a Facebook page created for the restaurant indicates that Killen is already working on plenty of new Tex-Mex recipes.
Over the past couple of weeks, Killen has used that page to preview dishes like saucy chicken enchiladas, carnitas that are smoked on the barbecue pit and then slow-braised overnight, and of course, the restaurant’s salsa. Perhaps most importantly, Killen has polled fans of the page on the color of queso they prefer — white or yellow? — and showed off what appears to be a mighty fine platter of steak fajitas.
A representative for Killen tells Eater that the restaurant is expected to open within the next two months. Stay tuned for an official opening date.
