Barbecue king Ronnie Killen confirmed this week that his first Tex-Mex restaurant is indeed happening, and opening very soon. Killen is going to transform a space within Pearland’s Silverlake Plaza at 9330 W. Broadway, Suite A200 into a new restaurant called Killen’s TMX. This will add to Killen’s empire, which currently encompasses barbecue, burgers, and steaks.

The slated opening date will be in November of this year, barring any delays, and the renovations to the space will be mainly cosmetic — think hand-painted white and blue dishes in the dining room and festive margarita glasses at the bar. The 5700-square-foot space will seat 150 and include a private dining room.

Smoked chicken enchiladas (Killen’s son’s favorite) will definitely make the menu, and expect to find dishes like brisket enchiladas, Wagyu beef fajitas, tacos, nachos, quesadillas, queso, moles, and salsas. Killen also just traveled to Cabo San Lucas to learn more techniques on how to incorporate Gulf Coast seafood into Killen’s TMX menu.

Killen’s STQ Executive Chef Teddy Lopez is working alongside the chef to develop the menu, and Deanna Killen is handling the bar program.

Here’s the restaurant as it looks now, before the Killen’s TMX team works their magic.

When it opens, Killen’s TMX will serve lunch and dinner Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
