Press Waffle Company, a DFW food stall known for its Liege-style waffles, has plans to open a Houston location.
The forthcoming waffle destination will set up shop at Baybrook Mall later this year, in a space that’s in front of the mall’s Apple Store outpost. According to Eater Dallas, Press Waffle Company got its start in Dallas in 2016 as a food truck, then opened its first permanent location at giant suburban food hall Legacy Hall in Plano the following year. There’s also a location set to open at a new Fort Worth food hall, but the Baybrook location is the growing chain’s first location outside of DFW.
For the unfamiliar, Liege-style waffles are authentic Belgian waffles. The waffle batter is sprinkled with pearl sugar, which melts on the waffle iron and creates a crispy, caramelized crust. At Press, waffles are served both sweet and savory, with options like the Elvis (peanut butter, banana, honey, bacon) and the Monte Cristo (black forest ham, turkey, cheese, blackberry jam). Creative diners can also design their own waffles from a list of toppings that ranges from maple syrup to sprinkles and fruit.
Press Waffle Company is expected to open sometime this fall. Stay tuned for an official opening date.
