After months of waiting and multiple delayed openings, Brenham barbecue favorite Truth BBQ is finally ready to open its doors in Houston.

The restaurant announced that it will open on Saturday at 110 South Heights Boulevard via an Instagram post on Friday morning. It’s the brainchild of pitmaster Leonard Botello IV, who first opened his Hill Country smokehouse in 2015. Since then he’s earned heaps of accolades in Brenham, including a top-ten spot on Texas Monthly’s list of the state’s best barbecue joints. Since the end of December, the Brenham location has been closed as Botello prepared to open his new restaurant in Houston.

A menu for Truth’s Houston outpost hasn’t been released as of yet, but diners can look forward to succulent brisket, snappy sausages, Duroc pulled pork and sides like tater tot casserole and corn pudding alongside the typical baked beans and macaroni and cheese. Truth is also beloved for its famous homemade layer cakes, in flavors like red velvet and banana-caramel, which are based on recipes from Botello’s mother.

Truth BBQ kicks the doors open at 11 a.m. on Saturday, and will be open until the meat’s gone. Don’t be surprised if the line of meat enthusiasts is quite lengthy.
