Thieves Stole Southern Smoke’s Brightly Colored Barbecue Trailer

Jeez, it’s for charity, guys

Southern Smoke/Facebook

Southern Smoke’s barbecue trailer, which has helped raise more than $1 million for charity and Hurricane Harvey victims, was stolen this morning.

According to an announcement posted to the organization’s Facebook page, the equipment was stolen at around 7 a.m. from One Fifth Houston. “The locks were broken, and the smoker is gone,” the post reads in part. It goes on to say that the business across the street has surveillance footage that Southern Smoke will use in its police report.

As of this past year, the one-day Southern Smoke event has donated over a million dollars between its contributions to victims of Hurricane Harvey, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and its own emergency relief fund. “The thieves not only took something that didn’t belong to them, they stole something that’s used to help and support others,” the post reads. With bright teal-colored branding bearing the Southern Smoke name, hopefully it draws enough attention to be recovered easily.

Stay tuned for how this all plays out, and in the meantime, peep the full post below.
