Austin’s wood-fired coffee shop Summer Moon will open its first Houston location next month.
The expansion-minded java brand inked a 1,800-square-foot deal at KM Realty’s Kingsland Plaza (19901 Kingsland Boulevard) in Katy. The company has eight locations in the Austin area (up from four in 2017), with several others sprinkled across nearby cities like San Marcos and Buda slinging coffee and breakfast tacos.
The family-run chain works with brick, fire, and oak wood to craft its custom coffee roasts, with weekly shipments expected to roll into Katy’s new location. Its proprietary “Moon Milk” is a blend of all-natural, unrefined sugar with hints of spice that helps build whole moon, half-, and quarter-moon lattes.
Ryan Richardson, Summer Moon’s Houston licensee, is a Katy native.
