Much-anticipated bakery Koffeteria is now open and serving up fancy pecan pies, just in time for Thanksgiving. The new bakery from Top Chef contestant Vanarin Kuch opened its doors over the weekend at 1110 Hutchins Street, Suite 102 in EaDo. (Inspections pushed back its original fall opening date.)
Kuch is known for his innovative pastries and savories, like Hot Cheetos crusted croissants or chicken tortilla quiche. Fittingly, Koffeteria is going all in on sweets for Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving pie menu includes a $50 carbonara quiche that’s advertised as the “favorite pasta without the pasta” and an $30 “Oh My Gourds” pie with pumpkin, squash, coconut, and brown sugar meringue. The $40 “Pecan Pie Basque Tart” includes layers of sweet nuts and vanilla pudding, while apples are front and center for the $30 “Turmeric Apple Tarte Tatin.” Koffeteria’s soft opening hours span from Wednesday to Sunday 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and 11 a.m to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
