Houston’s ice cream scene is booming, and the latest addition is Mister Softee, an iconic East Coast treat truck that rolled into Space City back in November.
A Facebook page for the roving ice cream truck indicates that it’s been parked at venues like the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, an H.E.B. parking lot in Pearland, and Walking Stick Brewery over the past few weeks, bringing a truly beloved East Coast ice cream vendor to the city. It doesn’t have a permanent parking location nailed down yet, but the truck has been actively posting its daily locations to social media since its November debut.
Per the Mister Softee website, the chain of trucks has been a staple in Philly and beyond since 1956, thanks to its beloved Mister Softee jingle and towering cones of soft-serve that are crusted with sprinkles and dipped in cherry or chocolate. Shakes, ice cream floats, and sundaes are also on the menu for the Houston truck, including crushed cherry and pineapple flavors served over Mister Softee’s sweet vanilla soft-serve.
Keep up with Houston’s first Mister Softee truck via its Facebook page, and don’t be surprised if those swirly cones don’t start to take over Instagram feeds everywhere.
