Samy’s Dosakall, a South Indian restaurant that’s been serving up classic dishes in Chennai since 1980, will open its first United States outpost in Houston.
The restaurant will soon make its debut at 10846 Westheimer Road, bringing a menu of South Indian favorites like dosas, biryanis, curries and more to the location formerly occupied by another Indian restaurant called Taste of Chennai. A representative from the restaurant confirmed that this is the first outpost of Samy’s Dosakall in the States, joining multiple locations in Chennai.
As far as the food is concerned, diners can look forward to griddled dosas served sweet or savory, chicken vindaloo, and massive portions of biryani that are served in buckets. Vegetarian options like paneer butter masala, yellow lentil daal, and egg kalakki will also be on offer, along with sweet fried gulab jamun (described by the restaurant as “Indian doughnuts”), mango lassi, and chai served with butter cookies.
An official opening date has not yet been set for Samy’s Dosakall. Stay tuned for more details on when this exciting new addition to Houston’s South Asian cuisine scene arrives.
