Popular Upper Kirby drinking destination Kirby Ice House will expand to a massive second location in Memorial City.
The beloved beer joint will open a sprawling, 7,000 square foot patio bar at the corner of Gessner and Katy Freeway, according to a press release, where it will serve beer, cocktails, and wine. Energy Architecture has been tasked with the designing the bar, and construction is expected to begin this summer. Kirby Ice House first made its Houston debut in 2016, and made waves after opening when it announced that it would only allow drinkers aged 23 or older. Since, the bar has changed its policy to allow 22-year-olds to drink there, too.
Joining Kirby Ice House at the forthcoming development is yet another location of Austin-based taco chain Torchy’s, and the fourth outpost of casual, kid-friendly restaurant Mia’s Table. Construction on both of those restaurants is expected to begin first, and both are expected to make their debuts sometime next spring.
Kirby Ice House is currently slated to open in Fall 2020. Stay tuned for more details.
