Beyonce scores steak in her home city
While in Houston watching the Rockets fall to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA playoffs, native daughter Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z scored eats from B&B Butchers on their way out of Space City. According to the Chron, the duo had an assistant pick up king crab, calamari, brisket ravioli, corn souffle, and banana pudding (among other decadent dishes), all of which was whisked directly to their private jet before it left. Actor Wilmer Valderrama was also spotted at the restaurant over the weekend.
Barnaby’s Cafe heads to a new location
Beloved local eatery Barnaby’s Cafe will open a new outpost at 1936 Fountain View Drive in the coming months. According to CultureMap, the second location of Barnaby’s Cafe will take over the space formerly occupied by short-lived spot Eatalia, and is set to open sometime in August.
Dun Huang Plaza lands a new Sichuan seafood spot
Xun Yu Si Kao, Asiatown’s newest destination for spicy Sichuan seafood, has officially arrived at Dun Huang Plaza. According to a knowledgeable tipster, the restaurant is now serving its its namesake dish of water-boiled fish, or fish in spicy broth with tons of chiles and Sichuan peppercorns.
