Houston’s first new outpost for Wienerschnitzel’s chili cheese dogs opened this week, with more in the works. According to Franchising.com, the hot dog chain is looking to make a big splash in the area, starting with its new restaurant located at New Caney in east Montgomery County at 20130 U.S. Highway 59.
Wienerschnitzel sells hot dogs of all stripes (think corn dogs and Chicago dogs and kraut-covered dogs). It also offers up burgers, sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, and fries doused in chili. By the end of 2019, the chain aims to open a store east of downtown Houston in Baytown. More locations will be announced soon. This is technically a return for the Texas-based chain, which operated a number of locations across Houston in decades past.
“Wienerschnitzel has been part of the Texas family dining scene since we sold our first hot dog in Amarillo in 1968 – so it’s only fitting that we give Houstonians the chance to experience our chili cheese dogs, chili cheese fries and Tastee-Freez frozen desserts for themselves,” Ted Milburn, Wienerschnitzel director of U.S. franchise development, told Franchising.com. “Thanks to local investors like Zaheed Umatiya and the Buns & Dogs team, local residents will be seeing a lot more of Wienerschnitzel in the months and years to come.”
