Today, the West University outpost of Sichuan favorite Spicy Girl will officially be transformed into Trendy Dumpling, a brand new destination for juicy xiao long bao.
An Instagram account created for the restaurant at 3285 Southwest Freeway indicates that it will officially open the doors on May 6, bringing a revamped menu and new vibe to the space. It’s the newest eatery from the team behind Spicy Girl, which still operates two Houston-area outposts and Wula Buhuan, another Sichuan restaurant that opened its doors in February in the Energy Corridor.
From the looks of that Instagram account, Trendy Dumpling has teased a number of fancy new offerings, including rainbow-colored and rose-shaped dumplings. In addition to pork and chicken soup dumplings, Trendy Dumpling will also serve decadent uni and shrimp soup dumplings, truffled pork soup bao, and noodle dishes alongside Sichuan classics like tea-smoked duck, mapo tofu, and salt and pepper shrimp. A solid list of cold and hot appetizers is also on offer, ranging from crunchy cucumber salad to spicy tendon and smoked eggplant.
Scope out a few choice dumplings below:
When it debuts on May 6, Trendy Dumpling will sling dumplings daily from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
