Take heart, fans of Montrose Indian mainstay Indika. News broke earlier this month that the restaurant would close after 18 years in business, but there’s been a reprieve. CultureMap Houston reports that owner Mickey Kapoor won’t shut down Indika after all.
He had planned to pivot the restaurant to a meat-heavy menu inspired by the Silk Road, but the technicalities involved in changing its name and getting new permits made him change his mind. Instead, Kapoor wants to open that new project, dubbed Bukhara, elsewhere. So Indika will continue onwards, with its favorite dishes intact — and a few of those Bukhara dishes will pop up on the Indika menu as well.
